The Celtics had won nine straight games and went a perfect 6-0 on their previous grind of a road trip, only to fall at home to the Miami Heat (124-103) where they entered as 10.5-point favorites. Boston has clinched the Atlantic Division and at least the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, but remains five games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers with six games left.
The Suns have struggled on the road with a 12-26 record and they go into Friday’s game a game out of the top 10 in the Western Conference.
