Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is questionable to play against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday (8:30 p.m., ESPN).
Morant is dealing with a right ankle sprain he suffered in Tuesday’s 121-116 loss against the Golden State Warriors.
Morant did not practice on Thursday with the Grizzlies. Coach Tuomas Iisalo said he will be a gametime decision on Friday.
“If he feels he’s good to go, we have full trust in him,” Iisalo said on Thursday. “He’s also a very good judge of how and if he’s ready to go or not. I’m leaning on the experts in this situation, which clearly I’m not in the medical department.
Morant was injured in the third quarter against Golden State. He returned with 9:26 left in the fourth quarter and played the remainder of the game. He finished with 22 points on 9-for-18 shooting and three assists.
After the game, Morant told reporters “I’m playing” when asked about his status for Friday. Memphis will give Morant most of Friday to test his ankle before determining his playing status.
