The Kentucky Wildcats’ roster for the 2025-26 season already looks good. However, there’s one more piece to the puzzle — at least that’s the hope — that could make it special.
Junior guard Otega Oweh, Kentucky’s leading scorer in 2024-25, is currently testing the 2025 NBA Draft waters while retaining his collegiate eligibility.
Oweh checks in at No. 77 on the updated list of the top 100 NBA prospects for 2025 from ESPN’s Jonathan Giovny, the best in the business when it comes to draft rankings.
Other Wildcats in the ranking include No. 56 Koby Brea, No. 63 Amari Williams, No. 81 Jaxson Robinson, and No. 97. Andrew Carr. All four of those guys have exhausted their college eligibility.
Keep in mind that there are only two rounds in the NBA Draft, and there are only 59 picks in this year’s draft coming up in late June. Oweh being ranked No. 77 is a strong suggestion that he wouldn’t get drafted, and this could make a return to school more likely.
If Oweh returns to Kentucky next season, the Wildcats are an instant National Championship contender. Combining Oweh, last year’s leading scorer on the Wildcats, with the big-time transfer commits, Kentucky has landed in the transfer portal and in recruiting, which makes Kentucky one of the best rosters in all of college basketball next season.
We know head coach Mark Pope can really coach. Give him this talented roster, and Kentucky may be playing in April for the first time in 11 years (and slaying some demons in Indianapolis along the way).
