Mark Pope brought in a veteran roster for his first season in Lexington, and one named blossomed more than expected.
Otega Oweh came to town and shined, averaging 16 points and five rebounds on the season.
Oweh was one of the most important pieces for the Kentucky Wildcats’ Sweet 16 run, especially after Jaxson Robinson suffered a season-ending injury.
The Oklahoma Sooners transfer is now embracing the NBA Draft process and is debating whether to come back to Lexington or officially stay in the draft.
No surprise, Oweh was a standout in the 5-on-5 scrimmages Wednesday afternoon and was also active on the defensive end as well.
Oweh has now discussed the process he is in the middle of during a brief interview with ESPN. Kentucky fans will like the quote he made about potentially returning to Lexington.
“The main thing for me is just finding the best situation,” Oweh said. “Obviously, my goal is to play in the NBA. If I go through this whole process and I’m getting great feedback and I can go all the way, then I’ll do that 100%. But either situation I’m in, it’s a great situation. I just gotta thank God for it.
“I’ve got a good situation back at Kentucky if I do choose to go back. Either way, I’m just thankful to be here.”
May 28th is the deadline for Oweh to make a final decision.
Otega Oweh was a “standout” in the first 5-on-5 scrimmage of the NBA Draft Combine.
