Giannis Antetokounmpo appears open to leaving Milwaukee but seeking to stay in the East, gain more control over team decisions, and play in a market that can attract other stars.
For the first time in his career, Giannis Antetokounmpo seems open to exploring options beyond the Milwaukee Bucks.
NBA insider Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson has now revealed what Greek Freak is looking for in a potential new team.
“If Giannis ever makes the leap and requests a trade — or if the Bucks see writing on the wall and explore preemptive options — he’ll want more than just a new jersey,” Robinson reported.
Per the same report, Giannis is focused on three key priorities:
- Staying in the Eastern Conference to maintain a familiar travel schedule and media presence.
- Having a strong voice in roster decisions and coaching direction.
- Joining a market that can attract other stars — not just a destination for him, but one that becomes a destination because of him.

Several teams have already been linked to the two-time MVP, including the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets.
However, speculation has grown around the New York Knicks after Giannis publicly expressed his love for playing at Madison Square Garden. According to SNY sources, the Knicks are very much in the mix.
Giannis, now 30, is under contract with the Bucks through the 2026–27 season and holds a $62 million player option for 2027–28. His contract does not include a no-trade clause.
This offseason comes after the Bucks suffered their third consecutive first-round playoff exit.
