Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse men’s basketball team has offered a scholarship to Tyylon Ennis, a point guard in the Class of 2028 and the younger brother of former star Tyler Ennis.
After a pair of games in Memphis last weekend in which Tyylon Ennis scored 17 points each, he posted on social media that he had picked up offers from Syracuse, Texas-Arlington and Texas-San Antonio.
He said those were his first scholarship offers.
In seven games with the JL3 15-and-under team during the current EYBL season, Ennis is averaging 12.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists. His team is 4-3.
More than a decade after his memorable season at Syracuse, Tyylon Ennis’ older brother continues to compete professionally and is playing in Italy’s top league with Reyer Venezia Mestre.
Tyler Ennis is averaging 14.8 points and 5.4 assists per game, ranking just outside the Top 5 in his league in assists.
Reyer finished the regular season in eighth place out of 16 teams, advancing to the league’s playoffs as the final qualifier. It is playing in the league’s quarterfinals.
His teammates in Italy include former Kentucky/Gonzaga standout Kyle Wiltjer.
Tyler Ennis and his team also competed in the EuroCup international basketball competition this year where Ennis put up similar numbers, averaging 16.6 points and 4.6 assists.
The EuroCup is considered the second-best basketball competition in Europe, trailing only the EuroLeague.
Tyler Ennis has now played a decade of professional basketball, spending time in both the NBA and overseas and overcoming a pair of potentially career-changing injuries early in his international career.
While playing in Turkey, Tyler Ennis suffered a broken ankle in 2018 and a torn Achilles in 2020.
Tyler Ennis spent one memorable season in Syracuse, helping the team reach No. 1 in the country at points in the 2013-14 season before being taken No. 18 overall in the NBA draft.
