Some of the heaviest hitters in NBA reporting are skeptic about the Boston Celtics.
Could the Green really trade four-time NBA All-Star Jaylen Brown? What about do-it-all guard Derrick White?
When appearing on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Wednesday, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported Boston’s primary focus is gaining insight into the trade markets of Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis and Sam Hauser. However, Charania also said the Celtics are expected to receive calls on Brown and White, and could consider those moves as well.
So, everybody is on the table besides Jayson Tatum?
“Essentially,” Charania told McAfee.

Charania isn’t the only one to express such skepticism either.
During the latest episode of “The Kevin O’Connor Show,” both Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix and O’Connor made similar remarks.
“Most recently I’ve heard open to trading anyone except for Jayson Tatum,” O’Connor said. “But it’s conflicting, like you said.”
Mannix replied: “Yeah, I’ve heard that, too. I’ve also kind of heard a little bit of, ‘We’re just going to nibble around the fringes.’”

The pair restrained from saying Brown was definitely available, but O’Connor doesn’t view Brown as “untouchable.” Brown underwent offseason surgery Wednesday, but expected to be a full-go by training camp.
While it’s unknown just how much of a teardown will take place on Causeway Street this offseason, there’s no doubt moves will be made. The C’s, who currently have a historic payroll entering the 2025-26 campaign, need to cut salary. And with Tatum likely to miss the majority of the upcoming season, the franchise could opt for a harsh reset.
