Is it possible that one of the most successful MLB franchises throughout the last decade is flying under the radar? Well, don’t look now, but the Houston Astros are making a case as a legitimate contender for the American League pennant once again.
The Astros’ most recent performance allowed them to flex their muscles and show why they are always a force to be reckoned with. On Friday, Houston opened their weekend series by dominating the Minnesota Twins to the tune of 10-3.
Houston led all throughout the game, scoring multiple runs in each of the first three innings and a total of nine in the first four innings.
Five different Astros drove in runs, highlighted by a three-RBI game from Jose Altuve, the most veteran member of the franchise who debuted long before the championship years in 2011.
Altuve drove in a pair of base runners with a two-run double in the second and then blasted a solo home run in his next at-bat. He finished the game 2-for-4 and is now hitting .278 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI on the year in 66 games.
