If there is anything that Green Bay Packers fans know about their former quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, it is that he has gone through his entire NFL career with a massive chip on his shoulder.
Once believed to be taken with the first overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, Rodgers saw his childhood favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers, spurn him in favor of Alex Smith. He did not get picked until Green Bay took him at 24th overall.
During his tenure as the Packers starting quarterback, it was that chip on his shoulder that endeared him to many fans. Despite being one of the best players in the NFL, he always made it seem like he had to be better, to prove someone wrong.
But toward the end of his time with the Packers, the constant victim act began to grow old. Granted, he used Green Bay’s drafting of Jordan Love to motivate him to raise his game and win two more NFL MVP Awards. But his feud with the front office and his offseason media appearances made the decision to move on easier than it maybe could have been.
And his most recent media appearance, one in which he went nuclear on the New York Jets organization, has called his character into question.
