Over the next three days in Chicago, four Kentucky Wildcats will look to make a good impression on NBA scouts at the 2025 G League Elite Camp.
Beginning today (May 9) and running through Sunday (May 11), former UK players Andrew Carr, Amari Williams, and Lamont Butler will participate in five-on-five games and strength and agility drills. They’ll be joined by another ‘Cat, incoming transfer Jaland Lowe (Pitt), who will also spend his weekend trying to impress league scouts and personnel.
Ahead of day one action on Friday, the four teams for this weekend’s event were announced. And as luck would have it, a couple of Wildcats from last season’s squad will team up once again. Carr and Williams were tabbed to Team 4, while Lowe is on Team 1 and Butler on Team 3.
The G League Elite Camp precedes the NBA Draft Combine, also held in Chicago from May 11-18, where players will have a chance to prove themselves in front of NBA personnel and potentially secure a spot in the actual Combine. Carr, Williams, Butler, and Lowe will all compete to be among the select few invited to the Combine from the G League Elite Camp.
There is currently no information on whether or not this event will be livestreamed to the public, but the G League did broadcast last year’s event on its YouTube channel.
Of these four, only Williams is currently projected as a potential draft pick late in the second round. Carr and Butler have been listed on big boards, but are not mentioned in any mock drafts. Lowe, who has two years of college eligibility remaining and is expected to take over as UK’s starting point guard in 2025-26, is not named on any big boards or mock drafts.
Kentucky’s Otega Oweh and Koby Brea have already been invited to participate in the NBA Draft Combine. Oweh actually spoke with reporters on Thursday in Portland following a workout with the Trail Blazers. He was asked about where his mind it at in terms of staying in the NBA Draft or coming back to Kentucky for a senior season. The All-SEC guard said he’s “all in” on going pro, but still left the door open for a return. Meanwhile, judging by most mock drafts, Brea is the former Wildcat most likely to hear his name called on draft night as a potential mid-to-late second-round pick.
The 2025 NBA Draft is set for June 25-26 in Brooklyn, NY.
