Less than a month out from the 2025 NBA Draft, Kentucky guard Koby Brea remains in good shape as a potential second-round selection.
With every new updated mock draft, Brea’s name continues to pop up. This time, Yahoo! Sports NBA Senior Analyst Kevin O’Connor is the one expecting the sharpshooter to hear his name called on one of next month’s two draft nights. O’Connor has Brea going 38th overall to the San Antonio Spurs.
“The Spurs need more shooters, and Brea projects as a shooting specialist who has a clear path to becoming a rotation player because of his highly sought after skill,” O’Connor wrote. “But in order to avoid being a weak link on defense, he’ll need to make improvements to his athleticism.”

As O’Connor alludes to in his blurb, Brea is arguably the best outside shooter in this entire draft. Add in the fact that so many projected second-round picks returned to college (which has in turn also boosted the draft stock of Kentucky center Amari Williams), and it feels more likely than not that Brea will be among the 59 picks in this year’s draft.
After spending his first four college seasons at Dayton, Brea transferred to Kentucky to play under new head coach Mark Pope. The 6-foot-7 native of New York posted per-game averages of 11.6 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the field, 43.5 percent from deep, and 91.4 percent from the free throw line. His playmaking as a lead guard developed throughout the course of the season, but the defensive side of the floor could be what keeps him from sneaking into the first round.
Regardless, Brea expects to be the first draft pick of the Pope era in Lexington. The 2025 NBA Draft is set for June 25-26 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
