The Minnesota Twins entered Thursday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles on a 10-game winning streak. They left with their 11th straight victory, but it came at a cost.
Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa left the team’s 4-0 win after a nasty head-to-head collision. Both players are in MLB’s concussion protocol following the play, which occurred in the third inning.

Buxton was able to hold onto the ball, securing the out.
After the play, both players remained down on the field. Correa was removed from the contest after being evaluated by athletic trainers. He was replaced by Jonah Bride. Buxton initially stayed in the game but was removed in the middle of the fourth inning.
Later in the contest, the Twins announced that both players were in concussion protocol.

Both Correa and Buxton missed time due to injuries last season. Correa was limited to 86 games due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Buxton missed time due to knee and hip issues. He played in 102 games last season.
After a slow start to the 2025 season, the Twins have turned things around. After Thursday’s game, the team has a 24-20 record. Despite sitting fourth in the American League Central, the Twins’ plus-28 run differential is the second-best figure in the division.
