ESPN senior NBA insider Shams Charania made the report May 12 on “the Pat McAfee Show.” Later the same day, the Cavs listed Mitchell on their injury report as questionable to play in Game 5.

Mitchell did not play in the second half of Game 4 on May 11 with what the injury report characterized as a left ankle sprain. The Pacers dominated the Cavs in the game, routing them 129-109. The win gave the Pacers a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
