Dixon is listed at 6-foot-8 and 265 pounds, and led the Division I in scoring this past season as a senior (23.3 points per game). The Cavs own the Nos. 49 and 58 overall picks, and Dixon could potentially be drafted in that range.
The NBA Draft is entering its second season of holding the draft over two days, with the first round scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, and the second for Thursday, June 26. So if everything holds serve, the Cavs will only be involved on Day 2.
Dixon shot 45.1 percent from the field, including 40.3 percent on 3-pointers in 35 games this past season.
He was actually close to 300 pounds when he first got to college, and while he’s dropped 20-25 pounds since, he’s kept his reputation as a “burly” and tougher player who can put the ball in the hoop.
“I have accomplished a lot in basketball, but I also earned a degree in history,” Dixon told Babcock Hoops. “I have a master’s certificate in education, and I’ve done a lot of volunteer work. So when I sit down with a team considering drafting me, I want them to know they’d bring someone who’s more than just a basketball player to their organization.”
The Cavs will continue to conduct multiple individual and group workouts over the next two weeks leading up to the draft.
