Michigan junior Danny Wolf is headed to the NBA Draft and will forgo his remaining eligiblity, as first reported by ESPN.
“This season exceeded all expectations,” Wolf told ESPN. “We had an awesome year from a team standpoint. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into with a brand-new roster and coaching staff, but Dusty May had an out-of-the-box plan for my development with a unique style of offense that allowed me to play my game. I wouldn’t be in the position I am today without them letting me showcase my skill-set and developing me into the player I am today.”
The 7-footer announced his intentions today after one season at Michigan. He averaged 13.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game for the Wolverines in 2024-25, helping them to a Sweet Sixteen and Big Ten Tournament Championship.
Wolf grew up a Michigan fan but spent his first two collegiate seasons at Yale before opting to join Dusty May’s first team in Ann Arbor. Wolf dazzled with his perimeter skill and playmaking throughout his time at Michigan, and his big-to-big ball screen actions became a fixture of Michigan’s offense.
“Playing at Michigan this year was the greatest honor of my lifetime,” Wolf said after Michigan’s season-ending loss to Auburn. “When Coach May and his staff kind of gave me the opportunity to come here and laid out a plan for Vlad and I, I questioned it at first, but they put so much trust in the two of us, and our teammates make us look way better than we are.”
Wolf is the eighth confirmed departure from May’s first team in Ann Arbor. Graduate transfers Vlad Goldin and Rubin Jones are out of eligibility while Tre Donaldson, Sam Walters, Justin Pippen, Phat Phat Brooks and Jace Howard opted to enter the transfer portal.
Michigan has already been active in the transfer portal, landing commitments from North Carolina point guard Elliot Cadeau, UAB forward Yaxel Lendeborg, UCLA big man Aday Mara and Illinois big man Morez Johnson Jr. The Wolverines also welcome McDonald’s All-American guard Trey McKenney and top-100 wing Winters Grady to the roster.
