The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed pitcher A.J. Puk on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, the club announced Saturday.
The Diamondbacks also optioned relievers Joe Mantiply and Bryce Jarvis to Triple A-Reno on Saturday. Drey Jameson was recalled from Triple-A Reno, and the Diamondbacks also selected J.P. Feyereisen and Juan Morillo. The team also designated infielder Grae Kessinger for assignment.
Puk has pitched in eight games for the Diamondbacks in 2025, posting four saves with 12 strikeouts with a 3.38 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP.
Mantiply, Jarvis optioned following struggles
Mantiply and Jarvis were optioned on Saturday following the team’s 13-11 loss to the Chicago Cubs where both pitchers struggled at Wrigley Field.
After the Diamondbacks scored 10 runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 11-7 lead, Jarvis hit and walked the first two batters in the bottom half of the inning, respectively, before surrendering a three-run home run to former Diamondbacks catcher Carson Kelly to make it a one-run game.
After Jarvis struck out Justin Turner, Mantiply was brought into the game with one out and didn’t fare much better, surrendering three runs on six hits, including two home runs as the Cubs took a two-run lead and went on to win the game.
Mantiply has struggled to start the season, posting a 15.95 ERA with seven strikeouts and a 3.00 WHIP in eight games pitched.
Jarvis has had his own struggles as well, posting a 7.36 ERA with nine strikeouts in six appearances.
Drey Jameson returns to the Diamondbacks
Jameson returns to the majors after missing the entire 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. After making four appearances with the D-backs in 2022, Jameson pitched in 15 games for the team in 2023, posting a 3-1 record with a 3.32 ERA with 37 strikeouts and a 1.43 WHIP. After going on the injured list with an elbow injury, Jameson opted for rehab in an effort to pitch again in 2023 before later having Tommy John surgery.
In seven appearances with the Reno Aces this season, Jameson has pitched 6.2 innings with 10 strikeouts with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.
Morillo was signed to a minor league contract by the D-backs in the offseason after spending seven seasons in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.
In six appearances with the Aces in 2025, Morillo has posted a 1.42 ERA with eight strikeouts and a 1.11 WHIP.
Since making his major league debut in 2020, Feyereisen has pitched in 93 games with the Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays, posting a 2.95 ERA with 94 strikeouts. Feyerisen has pitched in seven games with the Aces in 2025, posting a 0.96 ERA with seven strikeouts and a 1.50 WHIP.
