Strengths:

* Elite passing and vision – best in his class off the live dribble or stationary.

* High basketball IQ, the way he reads rotations, makes quick decisions, and elevates teammates.

* Positional versatility at 6-foot-9 playmaker with experience at guard and forward.

* Crafty handle, he uses change of speed and direction to manipulate defenders.

* Solid transition creator, he is excellent in transition and as a P&R ball handler (0.968 PPP).

* Strong on-ball defender, he has quick hips, good closeout speed, solid hands in passing lanes.

* Good help instincts, he shows and recovers well on screens, uses length to alter shots.

* Soft touch and strong extension on floaters, layups, and mid-air adjustments.

* Quick shot mechanics off the catch – solid motion despite inconsistent results.

* Flashes rim finishing, for not being an ‘elite athlete’ he has a good hangtime and body control with finesse around the hoop.

* Excellent assist-to-turnover numbers in ATO/late-clock sets (1.241 PPP, 90th percentile).

* Rebounding ability is solid as hr uses length to tip balls and shows physicality in traffic.

Weaknesses

* Below-average shooting efficiency, he shoots 27.3 percent from three, sub-70 percent from the line.

* Inconsistent off-ball movement and spacing, he can lose track of role in flow.

* Turnover prone, he’s a gunslinger so he tries to thread tight windows, risky passes under pressure.

* Limited burst and perimeter creation, he struggles to separate from defenders at NCAA-level, now imagine NBA-defenders.

* Not physical enough as a driver, he actively avoids contact, can get bumped off spots.

* Defense lapses, gets caught ball watching, gets caught navigating screens too quickly.

* Scoring drop-off vs. top competition, has padded early stats vs. weaker teams.

* Struggles securing midrange shots, his shot gets exposed or rushed.

* Inconsistent rim pressure, his shot creation heavily reliant on passing threat.

* Needs to bulk up, has a slimmer frame affects ability to finish and defend physically.

* Below-average in halfcourt offense (0.775 PPP, 24th percentile).

* May project more as a connective piece than a star if scoring doesn’t improve.

Scout Notes:

An executive on Igor Demin: “His passing is next-level. Worst-case scenario, he’s a more athletic Josh Giddey, that’s literally his floor because his passing is just that good. He’s almost 6-foot-10 and comes from playing pro ball with Real Madrid. Well, the shot hasn’t been there, outside of shooting, the biggest issue is that Igor hasn’t proven he’s a consistent scorer.”
