After scoring only a combined six runs in the last two games, the Cincinnati Reds exploded for 14 runs on Monday. But while scoring 14 runs usually takes a team effort, one player was responsible for literally half of the team’s production.
Shortstop Elly De La Cruz smacked a pair of home runs, recorded seven RBI, scored four runs himself and was a triple shy of the cycle. Prior to his monster performance to open up the second series of the season, De La Cruz resisted only three hits and one RBI as Cincinnati lost the series to the Giants.
