The Indiana Fever coach and an ESPN/ABC sideline reporter for the NBA Finals are away from their duties to attend to a family matter.
Fever coach Stephanie White and reporter Lisa Salters are partners, and both have stepped away for unspecified personal matters.
“I really want to win for Steph, she’s going through a tough time with her family right now,” Fever player DeWanna Bonner said before Saturday night’s Fever win over the Chicago Sky. “We want to rally together and get this one for her, but it’s also Austin’s first time at the helm, so it’s double-duty right now.”
Austin Kelly coached the Fever on Saturday night.
Salters was part of ABC’s announcing team for Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder. Jorge Sedano will step in for Salters in Sunday night’s Game 2.
