Ethan Holliday projects as the most probable No. 1 pick in the 2025 MLB draft, but Eli Willits and Seth Hernandez have gained some traction, while Jamie Arnold and Liam Doyle are the two most likely college players if the Washington Nationals decide to go with an older prospect.
Arnold ranks first on ESPN’s big board as a left-handed pitcher out of Florida State with three above-average to plus pitches. Willits ranks second slightly ahead of Holliday, who are both high schoolers in Oklahoma.
Hernandez ranks fourth even though high school right-handed pitchers are a riskier bet for most MLB teams. Hernandez’s teammate, Billy Carlson, is a shortstop who compares to Bobby Witt Jr.
