Pierre Brooks is keeping his options open.

The Butler senior forward who began his career at Michigan State is declaring for the NBA draft with the possibility of returning to college if granted an extra season of eligibility, he announced Wednesday on social media.

Brooks, 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, entered the portal earlier this week and is among players out of eligibility who are looking to transfer and asking the NCAA for another year. He played at least 25 games each of the last four years and averaged 15.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this season for the Bulldogs.

A former four-star recruit from Detroit, Brooks was part of Michigan State’s three-player 2021 signing class that included Max Christie and Jaden Akins. Christie left for the NBA after his freshman season while Akins was a senior captain who helped lead the Spartans to a Big Ten title and trip to the Elite Eight this season.

Brooks averaged 2.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 55 games with five starts over two seasons at Michigan State. He transferred to Butler for a fresh start and averaged 14.8 points per game in 2023-24 before setting career highs as a senior this season.
