In Luka Doncic’s first playoff series with the Lakers, he’s shown what he always has – that he can be motivated by any slight. After the Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards poked the proverbial bear, Doncic turned his game up a notch, scoring 31 points to go with 12 rebounds and nine assists (on a perfect 11-for-11 from the free-throw line) to give the Lakers a 94-85 victory in Game 2, evening the series. LeBron James added 21 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists for the Lakers, who held the Timberwolves to 38% shooting from the field.
All the Timberwolves needed to do was win one game in Los Angeles to turn the homecourt advantage tide their way, and they did just that. After having a huge Game 1, where Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid combined to shoot 19-for-25 from the field for 48 points in a 117-95 win, they came back to the mean in Game 2, scoring just 17 points on 6-for-19. How the Wolves get them back into the flow will be a meaningful angle to watch.
