The accolade marks Tatum’s fourth consecutive All-NBA First Team selection.

Celtics star Jayson Tatum is being recognized for his stellar 2024-25 season.
The NBA announced Friday that Tatum was named one of the league’s five best overall players this past season in the All-NBA Team vote. The 27-year-old was unanimously selected to the First Team by all 100 global media member voters.
Tatum was named to the All-NBA First Team for the fourth time in his career. All selections have come consecutively. He has been named an All-NBA player five times since entering the league in 2017.
Tatum joins the Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell on the First Team.
By earning his fourth career First Team nod, Tatum joins an illustrious group of Celtics to achieve the mark in Bob Cousy (10), Larry Bird (9), John Havlicek (4), and Bill Sharman (4). Additionally, Tatum is the first Celtic since Bird (1980-88) to be selected to the First Team at least four straight times.
Averaging 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and a career-high 6 assists in 72 games (all starts) this past regular season and leading Boston to the postseason for the eighth time in his eight-year NBA career, it’s no wonder Tatum is receiving national recognition.
“Congratulations to Jayson on his All-NBA selection,” Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said in a statement. “To be honored five years in a row, with four First-Team selections, speaks to his dedication and drive to be amongst the game’s best. He’s a great teammate and player, and is deserving of all the accolades that come his way.”
In true 2024-25 Celtics fashion, Tatum finished the regular season with a career-high 250 3-pointers. Joe Mazzulla is surely proud of that statistic.
He also logged two triple-doubles this past season. Tatum’s first came on Dec. 21 against the Bulls, in which he scored a historic 43 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists. His second happened on Feb. 20 versus the 76ers (15 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists).
Tatum also finished fourth in NBA MVP voting behind first-time winner Gilgeous-Alexander, second-place Jokic, and third-place Antetokounmpo. Tatum received 11 third-place votes, 84 fourth-place votes, and four fifth-place votes.
Unfortunately, Tatum has a long road ahead of him to earn his next First Team selection. After tearing his Achilles in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on May 12, it’s unclear when he will return to the parquet for Boston.
Tatum underwent successful surgery to repair his ruptured tendon the following day. His recovery timeline is not known; based on how the operation went, the star will hopefully return to his All-NBA First Team form in the future.
