Josh Jung is headed to the 10 day injured list, per the beats. Jonathan Ornelas was brought up from Round Rock to take his place on the active roster.
Jung left Friday’s game due to neck spasms, which sidelined him Friday and which were expected to keep him out for at least another day or two. With Josh Smith having had to leave Saturday’s game after a rough collision with the wall chasing a foul ball, the Rangers were suddenly down to effectively a two man bench, and so it apparently was deemed necessary to get another body up.
Jung is expected to miss just the minimum, but it is an unfortunate development for a guy who has struggled to stay on the field in his pro career, and who was hoping to avoid the injured list in 2025.
UPDATE — It is official, Jung to the injured list, Ornelas up.
