The Grizzlies have a chance to end their four-game losing streak when they face the Heat in Miami on Thursday night.
Memphis is in desperate need of a win with six regular-season games to play. The Grizzlies have fallen into the NBA Play-in during their recent stretch, which included firing coach Taylor Jenkins less than a week ago. Memphis enters Thursday night with the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference because of a tiebreaker with the Wolves and Clippers, who are all tied for the No. 6 spot.
Only the top six teams advance directly to the playoffs.
Here’s a look at where Memphis sits.
NBA Western Conference standings today
- Oklahoma City Thunder (64-12)
- Houston Rockets (50-27)

When do the Grizzlies play today?
Memphis faces Miami (35-41) at 6:30 p.m. (TNT, Max).
Which other key games will affect the Grizzlies?
The biggest game on the NBA calendar tonight is the second half of the TNT doubleheader, when the Warriors will face the Lakers in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. The Grizzlies would move back ahead of the Warriors with a win and a Golden State loss. Every team in the 4-8 seed range is very close in the standings, so games between two of those teams have major seeding implications.
The Timberwolves also face the Nets (25-51) in Brooklyn.
