LeBron James is ready to entertain fans in a new way.
The Los Angeles Lakers star, who recently completed his 22nd season in the NBA, might return to acting when he eventually retires.
“I think that all will boil down to the creative writing and to the role,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published June 16. “If the role is appropriate and I feel like I can nail it, then I wouldn’t mind doing that at all.”
While he’s no stranger to the cameras, LeBron—who appeared as himself in 2015’s Trainwreck and 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy—hasn’t necessarily played a character before. However, he feels confident in his abilities.
As he put it, “I feel like I could turn and be someone else that’s not LeBron James.”
Ultimately, the 40-year-old shared that he’s keeping an open mind for what’s to come in his post-basketball era.
“I would love to explore, and if the scripts start to roll in and there’s an opportunity for me to do some acting and I have the time—obviously, post-career,” he noted. “I don’t mind looking at it and seeing if I can make it happen, for sure.”
