My analysis
Josh Giddey hit a ridiculous game-winner against the Lakers on Thursday, and he was part of one of the wildest sequences you’ll ever see.
Down six with 12.6 seconds to go, the Chicago Bulls hit a triple to cut the lead to two. Giddey stole the inbounds and kicked it to Coby White for another three to take the lead. After Austin Reaves put LA back in front, Giddey hit a half-court heave to win the game.
He’ll surely be flying high after the win and the remarkable comeback, but big-time performances have become the norm for Giddey as of late. Post All-Star break, the budding star has averaged 22.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game.
In the 13 games played since returning from the break, Giddey has hit eclipsed his PRA five times. Over the last 10 games, the Dallas Mavericks have allowed 121.6 points (third-most), 43.3 rebounds (13th), and 27.9 assists (10th). In that span, the Mavs sport a 120.6 defensive rating, the seventh-worst mark in the Assocation.
On the season, the Mavs have surrendered 23.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 9.9 assists per game. Dallas is running on fumes at this point, and Giddey will have no problem stuffing the stat sheet at home.
