Coming off a season where they landed an All-Star caliber player in the prime of his career, the San Antonio Spurs find themselves in an interesting position.

Armed with a pair of lottery picks in a loaded class, the front office can take two approaches. They could continue to bolster the roster with promising young talent or look to make a big swing.

When it comes to this offseason, the one player the basketball world is watching closely is Giannis Antetokounmpo. Earlier this month, Shams Charania reported that the former MVP is open-minded to leaving Milwaukee for the first time in his career.

Since Charania’s initial reporting, the Spurs have been linked to Giannis. San Antonio can put together a very enticing offer with their two lottery picks and young players like Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell.

While speaking with NBA insider Sam Vecenie, one Eastern Conference executive anonymously discussed the Spurs acquiring Giannis. If the Spurs pull it off, they will instantly be in the title conversation in 2026.

“If the Spurs paired Giannis and Wemby, they would be the favorite to win the title next year,” said one Eastern Conference executive. “They’d have two guys who might be top-five players in the league next year on the same team. Plus, they fit. They’d have a dominant defense that no one would be able to score against inside.”
