The two teams played in a back-and-forth contest in a must-win match. The Timberwolves ultimately won in double overtime, 140-39.
It was a game to remember, but not for the Nuggets or their star guard, Russell Westbrook. Meanwhile, Nuggets superstar center Nikola Jokic was unhinged in the contest, scoring a career-high 61 points, along with 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals.
However, that was overshadowed by Westbrook’s mishaps in the final seconds of the game. The Nuggets were up by two points in the final seconds, and the Timberwolves had the ball.

Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards had the ball as time was winding down and had a bad turnover to Westbrook. The Nuggets were on a fastbreak, and Christian Braun made a pass to Westbrook for a layup, which he missed.
The Timberwolves grabbed the board and went down to their side of the court to win the game. Timberwolves guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker got a good look for a corner three to win the game. He missed the shot but was bailed out with a foul that was caused by Westbrook.
Alexander-Walker went to the three throw line for three shots with 0.1 seconds left in the game. He drained the first two, missed the last one on purpose, and escaped with the win.
After the game, NBA fans ripped Westbrook for his crucial mishaps that led to the Nuggets’ loss.
Fans went all in on Westbrook and did not hesitate with the jokes all over X.
The Nuggets dropped a crucial game in which Jokic played the game of his life. With the loss, the Nuggets now have a 47-29 record in the season. They still sit as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference but are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers in the loss column.
The Nuggets will also play on Wednesday for the second night of a back-to-back against the San Antonio Spurs. The Timberwolves escaped with their 44th win of the season. They are now tied for the sixth seed in the West and only half a game back from the No. 5 seed.
With only a few days left in the regular season, every game counts, and Tuesday’s game could be crucial for both teams as they jockey for playoff seeding.
