In the latest Stein Line, Jake Fischer revealed that, league-wide, executives expect a high volume of trades this offseason. From Fischer:

The Summer of Trades.

That is what many teams out there are bracing for … whether both of the aforementioned All-Stars — or neither — wind up on the open market.

“It’s gonna be a crazy summer,” one Western Conference executive projects. “There’s going to be a lot of movement.”

“Trades are going to be the marquee aspect because there’s a number of high-level players [available] and there aren’t really any marquee free agents,” adds another team’s salary cap strategist.

For the Utah Jazz, who are extremely likely to have another “development” season as they pursue the likes of Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, and Cam Boozer, are a potential trade partner with a lot of teams.

The Jazz are going into this draft after a disappointing lottery, but will still have a chance to draft a quality player at #5. Considering how good the West, and the future champion Oklahoma City Thunder are, the Jazz should continue stacking their deck with talent. With an incredible draft next year, and multiple picks from other teams coming after next season, Utah is primed to finally offload all of their veterans like Collin Sexton, John Collins, and Jordan Clarkson. And when you consider that those players will be on expiring deals, and with the NBA cap being so strict, there will be buyers.
