LeBron James’ performance against the Dallas Mavericks led to NBA analyst Nick Wright making an end-of-season award prediction for the King.
The Los Angeles Lakers are officially heading to the playoffs without indulging in the Play-In tournament for the first time since the 2019-20 NBA season.
The organization secured a berth in the postseason following a solid 112-97 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
While it was Luka Doncic’s show, 40-year-old LeBron James left his imprint over the game during the fourth quarter of a closely fought contest.

Nick Wright warns LeBron James to win NBA award
Over the course of his career, LBJ has won a plethora of individual accolades. Be it regular-season MVPs or NBA Finals MVPs, James has done it all.
However, even after being the superstar he has been for more than 20 years, LBJ has a few awards missing from his resume.
One such award that apparently no one cares about is the NBA’s Clutch Player of the Year, and Nick Wright thinks the King should win it this season.
“Not sure if this award matters/anyone cares about it… but if the voters are even ‘slightly’ paying attention, LeBron James is the ‘Clutch Player of the Year’ for this season,” Wright wrote on X.

Wright’s declaration came following James’ phenomenal fourth-quarter performance against the Mavs where scored 13 points and secured the dub for the Lakers.
Previous winners of NBA Clutch Player of the Year award winners
In recent times, the NBA changed a couple of things about their end-of-season award. One major change was the inclusion of the above-mentioned award.
The honor was introduced starting with the 2022-23 NBA season, meaning this will be the third edition of the award.
San Antonio Spurs star De’Aaron Fox won it in the inaugural season and Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is currently the reigning Clutch Player of the Year winner.
The award is also known as the Jerry West trophy in honor of the legendary LA Lakers star. Keeping that in mind, it would be interesting to see if the current face of the Purple and Gold can bag this honor.
