Phoenix Suns have hired Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach Jordan Ott as the franchise’s new head coach.
The Phoenix Suns have officially announced the hiring of Jordan Ott as their new head coach.
Ott replaces Mike Budenholzer, who was dismissed after just one season following the team’s failure to reach the postseason. Ott becomes the Suns’ fourth head coach in as many seasons, highlighting the franchise’s ongoing search for stability.
This past season, Ott served as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers under head coach Kenny Atkinson, helping guide the team to a league-best 64–18 regular season record.
Prior to his stint in Cleveland, the 40-year-old held assistant coaching roles with the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Lakers.
Ott was also set to join the Latvian national team’s coaching staff for this summer’s EuroBasket as an assistant. However, his new role with the Suns may affect his availability, leaving his status for the tournament uncertain.
