113 votes were cast, and the Pelicans received 11.5 percent of the vote.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Pelicans were voted the third-worst organization in the NBA, according to The Athletic’s annual anonymous player poll.

113 votes were cast, and the Pelicans received 11.5 percent of the vote. The only two teams’ players felt were worse were the Washington Wizards and the Charlotte Hornets. All three finished in the bottom four of the NBA standings this season.

“Our polling indicates how closely players equate persistent losing to the quality of an organization — and, sometimes, how long it takes for perceptions to change,” The Athletic said.

Some players declined to answer the question.

This season, the Pelicans’ 21-61 record was the second-worst in franchise history.

Injuries once again plagued them.

  • Zion Williamson missed 52 games
  • Dejounte Murray missed 51 games
  • Herb Jones missed 62 games
  • Brandon Ingram played in just 18 games with New Orleans before he was traded
  • Trey Murphy III missed 29 games.

Just days after the season ended, the Pelicans fired executive vice president David Griffin and hired Hall of Famer Joe Dumars as his replacement.
