The Rockies have fallen to 7-36, earning the title of worst record through 43 games in the modern era of Major League Baseball. They were outhit and outpitched by the Rangers again as Texas concludes a sweep that leaves the Rockies at 2-20 on the road.

Farmer’s First Longball

In his 36th game with the Rockies, in his 111th at-bat, Kyle Farmer finally posted his first homer as a Colorado Rockie. Following a Brenton Doyle single, Kyle Farmer connected on a Patrick Corbin cutter to send it 392 feet to left center field.

In the second inning, Michael Toglia homered for his sixth of the season. His shot traveled 416 feet to left field to put the Rockies on the board.

The Rockies finished with seven hits, including two singles in the ninth inning from Toglia and Mickey Moniak.

String of Strikeouts

Corbin got better as he went and the Rockies didn’t have many answers. Corbin recorded a season-high nine strikeouts, only giving up three runs on four hits with one walk in six innings. After striking out Jordan Beck in the first and Ryan McMahon in the second, Corbin didn’t strike out anyone in the third. Then came the string of six straight strikeouts when he retired the sides in the fourth and fifth, including McMahon looking. Corbin struck out one more before ending his night after six innings. In all, the Rangers struck out the Rockies 14 times. McMahon and Hunter Goodman fanned three times apiece.

Senzatela’s Turbulent Start

It only took three strikes for the Ranger hit parade to start against Senzatela. Josh Smith led off with a single and Wyatt Langford followed with his eighth homer of the year, a line drive that only went 368 feet with a launch angle of 22 degrees. Next, Senzatela gave up three straight singles before walking Josh Jung to make it 3-0 Rangers. Evan Carter hit into a fielder’s choice to plate another run before the Rockies turned a double play to mercifully end the inning with Colorado down 4-0.

Luckily, Senzatela rebounded with three scoreless innings before running into trouble in the fifth. After getting two quick outs, Senzatela surrendered a hit to Jung and walked Carter to be removed from the game. Jake Burger then hit a two-run double off of Scott Alexander to put the Rangers up 6-1. All totaled, Senzatela gave up six runs on eight hits with four walks and three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. He’s now 1-7 on the season with a 6.49 ERA.

Strong End Bullpen with Molina’s 2025 Debut

After Angel Chivilli struggled, Tyler Kinley entered the game in the seventh with the bases loaded and one out. Already down 8-3, this could have made an already bad game even worse. Kinley first got a force out at the plate and then got Langford to pop out foul to end the threat. Anthony Molina entered the game in the eighth in his 2025 debut. Facing the heart of the order, Molina only needed 12 pitches to force Joc Pederson into a groundout, Adolis García to fly out and Marcus Semien to strike out.

Up Next

The Rockies will have the day off on Thursday before heading to Arizona on Friday for the first series against the Diamondbacks of the season. The Rockies are 2-11 so far in NL West games against the Padres, Giants and Dodgers.
