There might be another Red Sox prospect for Boston fans to keep an eye on.

The Red Sox acquired Yophery Rodriguez as part of a trade that sent pitcher Quinn Priester to the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. The outfield prospect immediately made an impact when he made his High-A Greenville debut Tuesday.

Rodriguez batted leadoff, started at center field for the Drive against the Asheville Tourists, and went 2-for-5 with a double and a triple. He also struck out twice on his first day with the organization.

It was only one game, but Boston seemed to do well to boost its prospect depth. Here is a 2023 Baseball America scouting report for what to expect from the 19-year-old.

“Rodriguez has an athletic frame and was one of the better in-game hitters in the Dominican Republic for his class,” the report read. “He has a selective approach for his age with the ability to recognize pitches and stay disciplined in the zone, which helps him tap into his considerable raw power. He’s showing flashes of plus raw power already and should be able to tack on more once he fills out, giving him a good balance of patience and power. Rodriguez isn’t a burner, but he is athletic with slightly above-average speed, giving him a chance to at least start his career in center field.”

Baseball America ranked the 6-foot-1, 185-pound outfielder as the Brewers’ No. 14 prospect before this season. The left-handed bat hopes to continue his progression and impress the higher-ups in the Red Sox organization.
