SALEM, Ore. (KATU) — An effort to secure funding for a new baseball stadium in Portland moved forward on Monday.
A Senate committee moved a bill forward with a do-pass recommendation.
The legislation approves $800 million in bonds to fund the stadium’s construction.
The bonds would be repaid through a tax on players.
The proposed ballpark would be located south of downtown and north of the South Waterfront.
The bill now goes to the Senate floor for a vote.
