The Philadelphia 76ers have a very important night coming up on May 12. That is the night of the draft lottery which will determine whether they keep their top 6 protected pick or not. If the pick lands outside the top 6, the pick goes to the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of the Al Horford deal in 2020.
The Sixers put out a big hint on Twitter on who will represent them at the 2025 draft lottery. They posted a silhouette of a player that is rather obvious when considering the hairstyle and mannerisms.
That player is likely going to be Jared McCain who was the No. 16 pick of the Sixers in the 2024 draft. He played in 23 games before his season was cut short due to a lateral tear in the meniscus of his left knee, but he was a prime Rookie of the Year candidate before the injury as he was on a tear on the floor.
The Sixers will hope that McCain can give them some luck as they head into an important night. If they can keep the pick, then it gives president Daryl Morey a lot of options. He can, obviously, make the selection and add another young talent to the roster, but he can also play with the pick in terms of trades and see what he can get for it. It’s another asset in the toolbox.
