Alexander Ovechkin is the best goal scorer the NHL has ever seen, and he’s going to need to play like it in Game 5 at home against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Even at 39 years old, Ovi still scored 44 regular season goals in 2024-25 despite missing time with a broken leg. But he has just six points in nine Stanley Cup Playoff games this year and has just one against the Hurricanes — a goal that came on a 5-on-3 opportunity in the Game 4 loss.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Even if the Caps do fall to the Canes, Ovechkin has said he plans to return to Washington for the final year of his contract next season. One way or another, it appears he’ll spend at least a year solidifying his grip on his many all-time records.
