Few things have taken over the NBA world quite like Ja Morant’s finger gun celebration. It’s honestly remarkable how something so trivial could become such a story, but I guess that’s just the Ja effect. Players all around the league do that celebration and nobody has seemed to give a shit, but for obvious reasons it’s a little different with Ja. Never in my life did I think we’d be talking so much about finger guns, but here we are. This story just won’t go away.

Even in a game that didn’t include Ja Morant, it still comes up. This time, we had Dirk and Taylor Rooks recreating his finger fun/grenade celebrations while both were in Dallas for Luka’s return

You have to admit, they kind of nailed it. That’s the type of chemistry that should make next season’s NBA coverage on Amazon a smashing success. Compare it to the tape of both celebrations, and it’s pretty good!

Part of me wonders if this was another case of an NBA player falling under the spell of Taylor Rooks. Time and time again, we see players lose their minds whenever they’re around her as a result of falling under that spell. Honestly, who could blame them? Just look at Dirk in that clip! When have we ever seen Dirk act this way? I mean, look at this guy!

Admit it, every single person reading this blog would act the exact same way. We’d all cave in 0.2 seconds if we were in Dirk’s spot here. If anything, I find this makes Dirk more relatable. Before this clip, none of us had anything in common with Dirk. He’s a basketball legend, a Mavs icon and one of the greatest to ever do it. 99.9% of us cannot relate to his life in any way.

But this? We’ve all been there. I’m sure you can think of a time you maybe acted a little out of character because you were under the spell of a smokeshow. It’s no reason to be embarrassed, it’s how things usually go. This just proves that it doesn’t really matter who you are. A regular stoolie or an NBA legend. On some level, we’re all the same.
