As the postseason picture becomes clearer, so too have the potential storylines that come with it.
On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton highlighted what the most exciting storylines could be in the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Here’s a Daily Faceoff inbox question for you, Hutts. Of the teams who are in the playoffs, which one of the 16 makes for the most interesting story if they win the Stanley Cup? I mean, Gabriel Landeskog returning to the lineup and going on a run with the Colorado Avalanche would certainly be something. Montreal as some crazy eighth seed with all that young talent would also be a great story. Alex Ovechkin in his record-breaking year would be a great one too. What team would you pick as the best true story?
Carter Hutton: I think you hit a lot of them. There are obviously so many different storylines. I think you could add the St. Louis Blues in there with the epic run that they went on after the 4 Nations Face-Off with the Jordan Binnington push again. I think there is a lot of hype around the Toronto Maple Leafs with Craig Berube coming in and with what Brad Treliving has done. All of those storylines being said, it’s going to be an exciting time. I think the the other one for me would be can you imagine Brad Marchand lifting the Stanley Cup over his head in a Florida Panthers jersey? I think that would be very wild to see where his career has come from. There are honestly so many good storylines. I know it’s kind of established now where it feels like we have our teams set. We thought it would be a little bit more of a race. But with what Montreal has done and what St. Louis has done, those would be the two for me, where they’re squeaking in and coming in hot.
