New York Yankees pitcher Luke Weaver is expected to be placed on the injured list and miss 4 to 6 weeks with a hamstring injury, according to multiple reports.
Weaver, 31, suffered the injury over the weekend during the Yankees’ three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The closer logged just one inning Saturday, giving up a home run while striking out one over 14 pitches in the team’s 18-2 blowout loss. In his last seven games, Weaver has a 3.18 ERA with four saves. He’s totaled eight saves and 24 strikeouts so far this season.

With the loss of Weaver, Devin Williams is a potential candidate to replace him as the team’s closer. Williams is 2-2 on the season with 25 strikeouts, including nine in his last seven appearances.
The Yankees are slated to begin a three-game home series with the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night.
